Competitions at Leyland Photographic Society

Internal Competitions – Open Competitions

Regular competitions, judged by an experienced independent adjudicator are a welcome opportunity to improve the quality and variety of photographs made by all members. These competitions are split into two ‘levels’: Members and Advanced so whatever your level of skill your photographs can be judged against people of a similar ability.

Photographs can be submitted in either print or digital image format so even if you don’t have a printer you can still take part.

Themes

At each monthly competiton there is a “Theme” section open to all members of the club (i.e. no distinction between Advanced and Member sections).
Please note:
From 2018 season onwards all entries are to be presented in PDI format only at 1600×1200 in sRGB colourspace, there will be no print section.

Internal Competition Night

Each year the club runs an internal competition night, which is judged by the members themselves. This is an open competition for all members, without reference to the league they compete in for the Monthly Competitions. There are 5 sections in which to take part:

Martin Mere, Leyland Motor Museum, on a club practical night, a club outing or at the Gilbert & Sullivan dress rehearsal.
There are no limits on the number of prints or PDIs to be entered.

2. “Previously unseen” competition
This is a section for images which have not been shown at the club before. One print and one PDI is permitted per member.

3. Panel competition
This is a section for panels of three images (either triptych or 3 separate images) on the theme of “My Special Day” which can be taken anywhere during the season. There are no limits on the number of entries per member.

4. Lecturette Competition
Any member may enter and present a short talk which is illustrated by their own digital or print images. There will be no limit on the number of presentations per member, but there is a maximum of 10 minutes per person in total.

5. Digital AV competition
Any member may enter digital Audio/Visual presentations. There will be no limit on the number of AV presentations per member, but there is a maximum of 10 minutes per person in total.
